Cynthia Kaui serves as the Public Information Officer for the Orange County Auditor-Controller’s Office, where she leads all internal and external communication efforts. In this role, Cynthia oversees employee relations, media and government relations, and community engagement. She manages department communications with taxpayers, stakeholders, employees, and the media, and is responsible for crafting press releases, managing media inquiries, and maintaining the department’s internet and intranet sites. Cynthia also serves as the department’s Custodian of Record, managing Public Records Act inquiries, and oversees the administration of the department’s PRA database.
With extensive experience in government, nonprofit, and private sectors, Cynthia excels in public relations, branding, and social media strategy. She has successfully led initiatives in media relations, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach, often serving as an on-the-record spokesperson.
Prior to her current role, Cynthia implemented strategic communications campaigns in healthcare, information technology, and small business sectors. She has also supported political campaigns and elected officials through public relations and stakeholder engagement. As a producer and writer for a national television network, she covered breaking news, elections, and major national stories in a dynamic newsroom environment.
A San Diego native, Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of California, San Diego. Her accomplishments have earned her recognition as an Asian American Pacific Islander Leaders of Influence Winner by the San Diego Business Journal, a 40 Under 40 Honoree by the National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs, and a Visionary Volunteer by the Philippine American Business Improvement and Development Organization.
